Mouthguards & Night Guards in Mustang, OK

Custom-fitted guards that protect your teeth on the field and while you sleep, made from a digital scan of your own teeth.

Protection that actually fits

Store-bought mouthguards are made to fit everyone, so they often fit no one well. A loose guard is uncomfortable, makes it harder to talk and breathe, and tends to end up in a pocket instead of in the mouth. A custom guard from Buffalo Creek Dental is made from a digital scan of your teeth, so it fits snugly, stays in place and is comfortable enough to actually wear.

We make two kinds of guards. Sports mouthguards cushion the teeth, lips and jaw during contact sports and activities like football, basketball, baseball, wrestling and skateboarding. Night guards protect teeth from the damage caused by clenching and grinding during sleep (bruxism).

How we make your guard

1. Exam

Dr. Barnes checks your teeth, bite and jaw. For grinders, we look for wear and cracks.

2. Digital scan

We take a digital scan of your teeth and send it to a dental lab.

3. Lab fabrication

Your guard is custom-made from lightweight, durable material so you can breathe and speak normally.

4. Fitting

At a second short visit, we check the fit and bite and show you how to clean and store it.

Mouthguard FAQs

For kids in contact sports, a well-fitting guard is one of the simplest ways to protect their teeth. Growing children may need a new guard as their mouths change.

Yes, and it’s a good idea. Ask us about a guard that fits over braces.

Rinse it after each use, brush it gently with cool water, let it air-dry and store it in its ventilated case. Avoid hot water, which can warp it.

Common signs include morning jaw soreness, headaches, worn or chipped teeth, and a partner hearing grinding. We’ll check for wear at your exam.

No. A night guard protects teeth from grinding; a sleep apnea appliance repositions the jaw to help keep the airway open. See Sleep Apnea.
