Sedation Dentistry
in Mustang
The experts at Buffalo Creek Dental always take great care when providing any type of sedation. At Buffalo Creek Dental, we are prepared to offer the following types of sedation for patients:
- Local Anesthesia: Local anesthesia is a medicine that works to numb the area where it is applied. Our experts will carefully inject a local anesthetic to the site of dental treatment prior to beginning any work. By using this medicine, the patient will be much less likely to experience pain during treatment. Unlike other forms of sedation dentistry, a local anesthetic will have no effect on the patient’s mental awareness; however, some patients take comfort in knowing that they will not feel pain.
- Oral Sedation: Oral sedation dentistry comes in the form of a pill that the patient will swallow shortly before beginning treatment. This medicine will help the patient feel calm and relaxed. During treatment, the patient may feel less aware of their surroundings, but they will return to normal once the medicine wears off. Oral sedation is ideal for more intensive procedures and treatments where a deeper level of sedation is needed.
- Laughing Gas: Laughing gas is an inhaled substance that the patient breathes in through a special mask. It goes into effect very quickly, and it provides a patient with a strong sensation of comfort and well-being. Once the medicine has been administered, the patient will have virtually no concern with having work done. Laughing gas can be extremely helpful for reducing a patient’s anxiety before and during treatment.
